Digital  transformation is something that SMB to enterprise is embracing during our cloud-driven, SaaS’ (News - Alert)y, digital era. This disruptive chain reaction of innovation begins with an idea; the courage to step out and bring one’s vision to life. As we see readily in the news today, startups are surging. Why? The confidence to drive change on the wheels of ideas.

In 2012, Versa Networks was born on an idea. Kumar Mehta and Apurva Mehta, executives at Juniper, stepped out to fundamentally transform the business of networking. The duo doubled-down on delivering SD-networking into the branch, WAN, and data center networking space. Leveraging routing and security expertise, the pair set out to put the best of both in a singular software platform.

Creating a platform with a focus on delivering virtual types of services, the product and company evolved with the industry to create the Cloud IP Platform to software-define the branch and more. Today, it delivers this future-forward technology to large SMBs, service providers, and everything in between.

As security is in its roots, Versa took the holistic and comprehensive approach by integrating features typically found in next gen firewalls and UTMs within the underlying SD-WAN platform.Common to the SD-WAN space is a partner or ecosystem-driven approach to enhancing an SD-WAN solution with these types of features. However, by starting with such a stout foundation, Versa puts enterprises and service providers in the position of managing a single unified platform.

As Head of Product Marketing at Versa, Robert McBride explained to me in a recent conversation, “We feel our approach simplifies deployment. We offer connectivity, networking, and security all from a single profile.” A one-stop shop that takes customer engagement quite seriously: whether it’s an enterprise DIY project or a major service provider.

Looking ahead, expect to see Versa venture deeper into automation, artificial intelligence, and machine learning, and incorporating these technologies for cloud services and branch connectivity. One not to sit on its laurels, Versa is determined to remain ahead of the curve.

Software-defined networking is no passing fad. What type of WAN are you working with?
