Granite Telecom Helping Businesses Quickly Implement Remote Working During COVID-19 Crisis

We are in the midst of a global event that is necessitating more remote workers than ever.  The COVID-19 coronavirus has prompted school and retail closures, sporting event cancellations, and businesses and governments initiate remote work procedures, to help reduce the spread of the virus.

For many businesses, this means not only a culture shift, but a technology shift as well, particularly for companies that aren’t prepared for a wide-scale work-at-home environment.  The good news is there are many communications providers ready to step in and help them get set up quickly with the right technologies to securely provide the capabilities they need to remain fully functional.  That includes not only the tools to perform job functions, but the network connectivity as well.

Managed network provider Granite Telecommunications, which recently showed off its network services at SD-WAN Expo 2020 – part of the TechSuperShow – recognizes the critical period many businesses and government agencies are in currently, as they try to adapt to a new working model.  Granite has launched a new Rapid-Response Remote Redundancy solution to help businesses quickly get online with their remote capabilities.

The customized packages are able to deliver fully managed network services, network security, communications and collaboration tools, network monitoring, and more.  Importantly, Granite is committed to getting businesses up and running as quickly as possible with overnight shipping and easy self-install processes.

“Granite’s new Remote Redundancy solution is designed to quickly empower remote workers and provide business continuity,” said Christopher Chapin, Chief Technology Officer for Granite.

The remote Redundancy managed network service includes:

  • Wireless Redundancy, which delivers a wireless connection utilizing one of the four major wireless providers with a term as short as four months.
  • Essential Redundancy, which includes Wireless Redundancy plus a dynamic 25/5Mbps broadband circuit
  • Executive Redundancy, which includes 1Gbps Wireless Redundancy plus 100/10Mbps broadband circuit, one Granite Cloud PBX (News - Alert) Soft Seat with mobile and desktop app, and Granite Guardian network monitoring.

A number of package enhancements are also available to allow customization of services to meet the needs of individual employees’ needs based on job function and application and connectivity needs:

  • Wireline access upgrade from 25/5Mbps up to 100/10Mbps
  • Wireless access upgrade from 250Mbps to 1Gbps
  • On-premises managed firewall
  • Same-day soft seat with one call path
  • Same-day soft “Meeting Light”(4-person conference bridge)
  • VoIP handset
  • Additional call path
  • One-hour on-site setup
  • Granite Guardian network monitoring (with wireline connections only)

While this is an unprecedented scenario, it’s an opportunity for businesses to ensure they have the flexibility to adapt to any situation.  The truth is, remote connectivity is something every business should have anyway, especially in today’s multi-generational, mobile work environment.  The tools Granite and others provide will not only allow businesses to function during this crisis, but will set them up for the future.

The benefits of and technology required to enable distributed workforces will be featured at SD-WAN Expo 2021.  This will be the fourth edition of SD-WAN Expo, coming to the brand new Miami Beach Convention Center, June 22-25, 2021, as part of the TechSuperShow.  The fourth edition of SD-WAN Expo will expand on many of the topics enterprise leaders need to know surrounding their connectivity needs, including deployment models, evolving standards, SASE, practitioner case studies, and more. The collection of TechSuperShow events – SD-WAN Expo, ITEXPO, Future of Work Expo, The Blockchain Event, MSP Expo, and more – deliver an unprecedented educational and networking opportunity, where business leaders have access to all the technology that is helping businesses create new revenue opportunities.
