VeloCloud Networks has been doing very well lately. In January, the company secured $27 million in a Series C funding round. This news came shortly after VeloCloud was selected by Vonage (News - Alert) to enhance cloud-based business services with the VeloCloud Cloud-Delivered Software-Defined Wide Area Network (SD-WAN).

In fact, it’s VeloCloud’s SD-WAN solution that has been at the heart of its success, so it’s not surprising that it recently won the Intelligent Open Networking (IOPN) Award 2016 in the Best Service or Solution Combining Intelligence with Open Networking awards category from the Network Intelligence Alliance (NI Alliance). The NI Alliance is an industry organization that promotes collaboration among vendors of products and solutions based on network intelligence.

The IOPN Award is an industry distinction that recognizes and awards service providers and technology vendors that successfully combine intelligence with open networking in their services and solutions.

"The NI Alliance is a leading organization for vendors focused on delivering network intelligence-based solutions to network operators and enterprise customers, and we were honored to accept this award at the IOPN Awards ceremony at Mobile World Congress (News - Alert)," said Sanjay Uppal, CEO and co-founder of VeloCloud. "VeloCloud delivers unique intelligence, a commitment to open networking, a partner ecosystem and programmatic interfaces which help enable the best application and cloud service performance for enterprises and service providers."

VelcoCloud’s Cloud-Delivered SD-WAN enables enterprises to support application growth, network agility and simplified branch implementations while also facilitating optimized access to cloud data centers and applications. For global service providers, this means increased revenue, as well as the ability to deliver advanced services and increase flexibility through the delivery of elastic transport, performance for cloud applications, and integrated advanced services, all via a zero-touch deployment model.

With VeloCloud SD-WAN, enterprises and service providers alike can achieve detailed intelligence on how their WANs are working at an application level as the solution can correlate bandwidth, packet loss, jitter and latency to individual applications. In other words, VeloCloud enables customers to correlate WAN quality of service, security and cost to individual applications, machines and users—a level of intelligence previously unattainable in the SD-WAN space.
