SD-WAN: Network Demand Requires New Network

April 11, 2016

At SD-WAN Resource, we know that SD-WAN improves transport options, security, pathway control and the provisioning process. We also know forces are at play driving SD-WAN adoption and development, so now is a good time to talk deployment and explore why plunging into the new ways of WAN is paramount.

Those in the enterprise have experienced a transformation in business tools and enterprise network demands. The explosion of cloud and SaaS (News - Alert) apps has challenged the network to evolve, as we’ve seen innovation take place in applications and the type of network traffic, the underlying technology powering the network has remained relatively the same.

WANS are complex but as CloudGenix notes, “Sure things have been patched up along the way  with templates and scripts to streamline configuration and WANop for point to point performance but this legacy way of doing things has become unnecessarily complex, inefficient and expensive.”

The SD-WAN provider exclaims it is time to create from the ground up, as it has with its application driven network.  CloudGenix ION alleviates proprietary hardware and routing protocols and dependence on MPLS. The solution creates a centralized “brain” and pairs it with intelligence for optimal network performance. ION leverages real time application session metrics to provide visibility and control, and selects path via priority and application performance.

Now to get into deployment. From the end user perspective, deployment is as simple as installing the software and configuring the system via a user-friendly portal.  The system will automatically detect applications running on the network; the user can set priority, security, possible paths and be off and running. What would take months prior to the CloudGenix solution, takes minutes post deployment.

At the end of the day, businesses need a network solution that is not just reliable but high-performing as well. All signs point to SD-WAN serving as the next generation solution to this growing demand.

What WAN are you working with?
