VeloCloud Achieves VMware Ready Status

VeloCloud is always trying to optimize the various aspect of its software-defined wide area network, Cloud-Delivered SD-WAN. It has now secured the functioning of its flagship so much that it has gained VMware Ready status, which means that its cloud-based network has passed the requisite interoperability tests with VMware’s virtualization software.

VeloCloud will gain the right to place the VMware Ready insignia next to its SD-WAN and will also find its product mentioned in the VMware Solution Exchange, an online marketplace where businesses can shop for new additions to their virtualized infrastructures. This pairing of services will have the effect of speeding up VeloCloud network connections and increasing the flexibility of the applications its clients use every day.

Michael Wood, the vice president of marketing at VeloCloud, called this event a milestone in his company’s development. He mentioned that the final years of this decade will be critical to VeloCloud’s future because it expects to grow a significant amount during that time. In order to sustain its expected growth, however, it must remain flexible enough to meet all its clients’ needs. That is why the joining with VMware makes sense.

The least amount the VeloCloud could gain from this partnership is that its clients will now have access to VMware vSphere, a server virtualization platform that allows businesses to create their own virtualized network functions that work well with one another. Inside a single business, this can increase the interoperability of its systems and reduce the complexity system admins face when dealing with a network. For service providers, such a drop in complexity can be even more dramatic because it can extend those virtualized services to a range of customers across the globe. The use of virtualized infrastructure can also provide benefits for companies that dig into the Internet of Things.

Beyond use of vSphere, VeloCloud will also benefit from the exposure it gains in the VMware online marketplace. Wood said his company expected to grow in the coming three to five years; well, this may be the first big step that solidifies that ambition. One mention in the pages of VMware’s catalog and all businesses will know that the SD-WAN has been vetted to work with the virtualized infrastructure they have come to know. Potential customers can find VeloCloud now in the marketplace and begin using the SD-WAN at any point they choose.
