The move to software defined networking (SDN) by operators has resulted in making existing infrastructures much smarter. By getting rid of the costly and labor intensive manual processes, it is now possible to manage networks with greater control and increased visibility to proactively resolve issues before it affects the end user. Service providers are creating innovative solutions to ensure operators and users alike never encounter these problems. One company making this possible is VeloCloud, provider of cloud-delivered SD-WAN, which was just recognized by VMware at the VMworld 2016 US conference as the winner in the "Networking and Virtualization" awards category.

According to VMware, VeloCloud was given the Best of VMworld 2016 Award for delivering differentiated performance, reliability, scalability and quality of experience for real-time applications.

The selection process for the VMworld Awards is made after evaluating more than 150 entries, which was reviewed by an independent team of judges based on the innovation, value, performance, reliability and ease-of-use the product or service delivers.

Sanjay Uppal, Co-founder and CEO of VeloCloud, said, "This award recognizes the benefits of VeloCloud SD-WAN and its unique ability to deliver differentiated performance, reliability, and quality of experience for business critical enterprise applications, including Voice, Video, VDI and IOT.”

The VeloCloud cloud-delivered SD-WAN was developed to give enterprises optimized access to cloud services, private data centers and enterprise applications by securely supporting application growth, network agility and simplified branch and endpoint implementations. Local and global can leverage the VeloCloud  zero-touch deployment and operations model to increase their revenue while delivering advanced services with the flexibility to deliver an elastic transport that ensures high performance for cloud applications and integrated advanced services.

The multitenant cloud gateway architecture has the scalability to support real-time applications over private, broadband and wireless links by simplifying branch WAN networking with an automated deployment to improve performance over private, broadband Internet and LTE (News - Alert) links for organizations that are distributed across a wide geographical location.

The VeloCloud SD-WAN includes public, private or hybrid cloud network options for enterprise-grade connection to cloud and enterprise applications, branch office enterprise appliances and optional data center appliances, software-defined control and automation, and virtual services delivery.

According to VeloCloud, the architecture it has designed for its SD-WAN allows wired or wireless broadband Internet use with or without traditional MPLS to create enterprise grade wide area networks. It is able to increase bandwidth with high performance access to cloud along with service insertion and broad network visibility.

With VeloCloud, organizations can transform inexpensive broadband Internet into an enterprise grade secure WAN. And this is achieved without a data center headend, while at the same time improving the performance of existing WAN. With the cost of access on the increase, being able to use existing infrastructure and services makes the VeloCloud cloud-delvered SD-WAN solution a worthy recipient of the Best of VMworld 2016 Award.
