The migration to the cloud by enterprises for their IT needs is stretching the limitations of traditional wide area networks (WAN). Whether it is applications, communications, platforms, infrastructure or other digital solutions, it can now be accessed through the cloud. This of course means networks will be pushed, and innovative technologies have to provide flexible solutions capable of taking advantage of the entire available network infrastructure while awaiting new developments. In selecting the Viptela Secure Extensible Network (SEN) platform as 2016 SDN Product of the Year, TMC (News - Alert)'s INTERNET TELEPHONY and SDN-NFV Zone editors highlighted it was leading the way by creating best-in-class architectures and applications to give enterprises the tools they will need for the best performance and price point.

Viptela has implemented two of the largest SD-WAN deployments in the world, while lowering WAN operating costs by up to 50 percent, increasing bandwidth by 10 fold and boosting cloud performance by up to five times. The SD-WAN technology it has developed gives enterprises a centrally managed WAN over a range of connections in a secure and adaptable centrally managed ecosystem.

Technology Marketing Corporation (TMC), the world's leading business-to-business and integrated marketing media company, servicing niche markets within the communications and technology industries, selected the Viptela Secure Extensible Network (SEN) SD-WAN platform as a 2016 SDN Product of the Year winner for the innovations the company introduced.

Rich Tehrani (News - Alert), CEO, TMC, said, “SDN architecture is having a profound impact on the IT and Telecom industries and the Viptela SD-WAN platform has demonstrated innovation that will shape the face of this rapidly-evolving industry. It is our pleasure to honor Viptela for their inspiring work.”

The Viptela SD-WAN platform delivers business driven connectivity with single hybrid WAN over private (MPLS) and public (broadband, 4G/LTE (News - Alert)) networks along with end-to-end network segmentation (PCI/HIPAA compliance, guest Wi-Fi offload, and business partner). The flexible topologies and different policies and exits based on application requirements deliver efficient cloud performance. As to security, it provides full-mesh encrypting at routing scale so the control, data and management planes are encrypted with automatic network hardening.

“Viptela is honored that our SD-WAN platform has been selected 2016 SDN Product of the Year. This latest industry recognition provides further validation for our SD-WAN technology and market leadership, which has been deployed at thousands of sites by Fortune 1000 companies. We will be unveiling some exciting new SD-WAN innovations in 2017,” said Lloyd Noronha, Head of Global Marketing for Viptela.

According to Viptela, Secure Extensible Network (SEN) is the most deployed enterprise grade SD-WAN currently used in all major industries across thousands of sites within Fortune 500 enterprises.
