Mazars Sees Bottom Line Results with SD-WAN

We read about the benefits of SD-WAN on a daily basis. We hear about growing adoption, and can’t help but discuss the burgeoning nature of this transformative technology and with projections placing this market in the billions in coming years it’s important to look at use cases. Simply put, it’s important to get out into the field and see the next generation of WAN in action.

Mazars is a top accounting firm in the United Kingdom that recently deployed the Silver Peak (News - Alert) Unity EdgeConnect SD-WAN Solution to connect its international branch offices to cloud applications critical to business operations. Its MPLS WAN was no longer fit to support the sprawling organization’s international presence. Hybrid WAN answered the bell.

“The existing WAN infrastructure was designed to support our UK operation however, it was starting to creak and was certainly not capable of supporting us internationally,” said David Bennett, chief technology officer (CTO) at Mazars UK. “With the introduction of a range of new cloud-based solutions, we knew that we needed to change our underlying infrastructure to support all our offices – and critical to that was a transport agnostic SD-WAN solution.”

Mazar UK possesses more than 20 branches spanning the globe. The Silver peak Unity Orchestrator global management software enables a new level of control and visibility in regard to data center and cloud-based applications. In addition, it offers a migration path to a fully-cloud-based environment leveraging Microsoft (News - Alert) Azure and Office 365.

So far, Mazar reports a more than 40 percent reduction in network traffic across each branch as well as performance and reliability requirements met.

“The innovative ways enterprises are going about transforming their businesses are very impactful. This is particularly evident for IT departments as they increasingly migrate workloads to the cloud to enhance business agility,” noted Kristian Thyregod, vice president of EMEA sales at Silver Peak.
