The dust has settled from this year’s SD-WAN Expo, where we explored the opportunities and advantages of this burgeoning technology. TMC (News - Alert) brought together the leaders in the SD-WAN space that discussed how this enabling technology is driving improved application performance and voice quality, forwarding adoption of cloud communications.

Today, Cato Networks announced that it has earned certification as a RingCentral (News - Alert) connectivity partner. Cato earned the moniker from successful call quality and resiliency testing, proving it could provide exceptional call quality with sub-standard network performance.

“Cloud communications requires predictable, low-latency connections,” said Nick Fan, vice president of sales, Americas, at Cato Networks. “The Cato Cloud provides affordable premium cloud connectivity with the intelligence and performance needed to deliver a high-quality cloud communications experience across the globe.”

No longer is the enterprise beholden to MPLS networks, Cato Networks is offering a means to migrate critical applications into the cloud via pocket-friendly, reliable and optimized connectivity. With over 15 percent packet loss the Cato SD-WAN solution was still able to deliver MOS scores of 3.8 and above, maintaining high call quality.

“Many enterprises are deploying SD-WAN, as a leading technology to assure highest-levels of quality of service and availability,” said Curtis Peterson, senior vice president, cloud operations, RingCentral. “As part of our partner certification process, we tested Cato’s ability to deliver high-quality voice even under extremely poor network conditions. We found that Cato was able to accommodate more than 15 percent packet loss and still maintain a high-level of voice quality, which is a significant achievement in providing superior customer experience.”

Organizations will find SD-WAN offers a plethora of benefits, but in the near term it appears cloud migration is the first order of business, with QoS coming in a close second. UCaaS adoption will ride the momentum of SD-WAN – RingCentral seems to have the right idea.
