FARIBAULT, Minn., April 4, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- PREMIER launches the newest addition to its Pi-CON solution portfolio which enables communications services providers in accelerating their ability to offer virtualized network services to their Enterprise Customers. With PREMIER's extensive technology partner ecosystem, the Pi-CON solution set leverages industry partners such as Intel and Advantech to provide best-in-class uCPE (Universal Customer Premise Equipment) solutions delivering virtualized network functionality (VNF). The Pi-CON portfolio now comprehensively targets residential, small/medium business, and enterprise markets.

By partnering with Intel, PREMIER, an industry leader in carrier-grade products, solutions, and services, embraces the latest Intel technology and the Intel® Select Solutions for uCPE reference design to deliver the Pi-CON series uCPE portfolio. The portfolio includes four platform sizes, all of which are based on Advantech's carrier-grade platforms and powered by Intel's high-performance processors. In addition to validated hypervisors, a sample of VNFs that will be bundled with Pi-CON platforms include SD-WAN, NG-FW, BNG, VPN, VSwitch and VRouter.

PREMIER's large Pi-CON uCPE platform is verified as an Intel® Select Solution for uCPE and utilizes the Intel® Xeon® D Processor to deliver optimal performance and efficiency. Additional Pi-CON uCPE are powered by Intel® architecture including the low-powered Intel® Celeron® processors and Intel Atom® processors.

The Pi-CON uCPE portfolio's scalability ranges from a cost-efficient and compact tabletop platform to a high-performance carrier-grade 1U rackmount platform. Pi-CON uCPE solutions offer outstanding stability complimented by world-class design, quality assurance processes, and include enhanced feature sets that improve availability, serviceability, and usability. Advanced platform features include redundant images and fail-safe updates using a single industry standard protocol (HPM.1) which are built into a dedicated Carrier Grade BIOS and IPMI firmware.
