CloudGenix Making Waves with Application-Defined Fabric

The days of the entire team working in the same structure are long gone as we enter an era of work flexibility, and there are some questions in need of resolution. Today, the Silicon Valley firm unveiled its application-defined fabric for virtualizing the remote office: the Instant On (ION) 3000v. The new release leverages a powerful security model, which allows for direct access from the remote office and extends application policies across the hybrid cloud.
“The role of networking teams is evolving,” said Josh Schertzer, managing director at Blackstone. “It's the networking team's job to deliver applications from the cloud and data centers to employees around the globe, with extremely high availability, performance and security. Virtualizing the remote office and reducing WAN costs are a priority for many enterprises. The industry needs an application-defined platform for the remote office that's much more than the hybrid-WAN-only approaches we've seen traditionally. The goal is for IT to deploy applications anywhere in the world within minutes based on App-SLAs – without complex routing re-engineering.”
The modern enterprise is leveraging a slew of cloud and collaboration applications for day to day business, and, according to Microsoft (News - Alert) firms, should plan for a jump of up to four times in network traffic. An SD-WAN providing direct cloud access for those working remotely is integral to providing exceptional app performance today and tomorrow.
“The increasing use of modern applications requires that enterprises look beyond traditional networking to new ways of building and managing WANs,” said Jim Metzler, founder and vice president of Ashton, Metzler and Associates. “Modern applications combine multiple services, are collaborative, and can be hosted anywhere. This requires enterprises to move from managing network SLAs to application SLAs.”
There is no debate over the notion of software eating the enterprise, and a key component of this equation moving forward is the cloud. While, yes, sales are the lifeblood of an organization, the network is the heart. And, without a healthy heart in place the future is certainly in doubt. With a focus on application performance, SD-WAN is wading its way into the mainstream.
