We are well within the cloud era, witnessing the transformation of physical to virtual, limited to infinite, and geographically close to rather disparate. SD-WAN is a key enabler of this evolution, offering a cloud onramp and introducing the potential of the digital age.

Extreme Networks continued its cloud focus, announcing the purchase of InfoVIsta’s SD-WAN division, Ipanematech SAS (News - Alert), known as Ipanema. The acquisition instantly augments the ExtremeCloud portfolio of cloud-managed SD-WAN and security solutions.

"By acquiring Ipanema (News - Alert), Extreme extends its market leadership position in cloud with features that will help to reduce complexity for customers when it comes to operating and managing their increasingly distributed networks. Tapping into the fast-growing and developing market segments of cloud-managed SD-WAN, and, in the future SASE, accelerates our topline growth potential and expands our opportunity to grow recurring revenue with additional SaaS applications.” explained President and CEO Extreme Networks (News - Alert) Ed Meyercord.

The workforce is pushing edge of the network, with the Ipanema solution; automation underpinned by real-time data ensures expected performance, improved end user experience via different types of cloud-managed WAN connectivity. Extreme will integrate the solution to offer more flexibility, capability and security when connecting devices, applications and locations to empower the infinite enterprise.

"Ipanema expands the ExtremeCloud portfolio by providing new cloud-managed SD-WAN connectivity and security capabilities, accelerating Extreme's ability to meet the needs created by the Infinite (News - Alert) Enterprise. In isolation, SD-WAN technology barely scratches the surface of its potential, and we believe Ipanema's technology will play a critical role in helping us continue provide fast, secure, and superior consumer experiences.

Expected close is October 2021, with Ipanema garnering a price tag (News - Alert) of $73 million.
