SD-WAN Spotlight: Versa Networks Nets Major Milestone
In a cloud-powered, application-driven, software defined, always plugged-in, always-on world, innovation in the network is enabling business well into the future. Ferris Bueller said, “Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it,” this especially true when it comes to a sprawling space like SD-WAN. The SD-WAN Spotlight will keep you tip of the spear in this integral industry.
This week, we caught up with market leader Versa Networks. Head of Product Marketing Rob McBride sat down with me to take a look ahead, a look back offering some interesting insight into the SD-WAN provider’s perspective.
“Moving into 2018 our focus will be to continue enabling our customers to scale their deployments, facilitate our partners to further extend their reach and success,” McBride explained. Versa will be, “Focusing to continue software-defining the branch by innovating even further to radically simplify and transform the buying, selling and operating experience of SD-WAN and SD-Branch. The second half of this year will see a new and innovative approach that is focused on delivering greater simplicity with speed, control and visibility.”
Taking notice, “Security is and has been a growing theme associated to SD-WAN. What has been interesting is the phenomenal increase in the SD-WAN vendor and solution landscape to begin weaving security into the story,” McBride noted. For Versa, security has always been front in center, but industry-wide, “the last half of 2017 through first half of 2018 saw security begin to take a more prominent role. Not only are customers and partners recognizing the need to incorporate security as they re-architect the network with SD-WAN, but the vendor landscape also began to evolve and formulate partnerships. “
Versa is celebrating a bit of a milestone today, achieving 150,000 contracted licenses. McBride attributes the benchmark to three things, “Execution, dedication and leadership.” With an expanding partner ecosystem, robust portfolio as well as a growing SD-WAN, SD-Security and SD-Branch space, the SD-WAN provider is poised to continue this success well into the future.
McBride added, “SD-WAN is that next step to evolving the network into a business enabling function and not just a supporting function. At Versa Networks we have taken a holistic approach to helping customers on their digital transformation journey. Not only is connectivity consumption changing but this new world of multi-cloud, mobility and IoT is also changing the security landscape and posture of every organization.”
Trailblazing a new day in networking is no small task, but this SD-WAN provider is peering into prosperous prospects on the horizon.
